Understanding Decarboxylated Hemp Tea

Bioabsorption of CBD

CBD is found both in the hemp leaves, flowers and seeds. However if you were to ingest these in their raw form, there would be little if any CBD absorbed.

The most common method to increase absorption is to pair the CBD product with fats. Either by pairing the ingestion of CBD with a fatty meal, or in the case of tea adding some sort of fat binder. This approach does have validity, as it's been officially studied. But not all fats behave the same way, so it's unclear what fat combination with tea would yield the best absorption.

Another more hyped claim is using  'nanotechnology' to increase absorption. Numerous studies has shown this to be bunk and we recommend avoiding any product that uses 'nano' in their marketing descriptions.

 What is "decarbing"?

“Decarbing” is short for decarboxylation. Decarboxylation is using heat to convert cannabinoids from their acid form into their active form. At the molecular level, carbon atoms are removed from the CBD molecules. Hence the term, de*carb*.

To decarb hemp, there are two main catalysts in the process - heat and time. Smoking and vaporizing can instantly decarb the cannabinoids as a result of the extremely high temperatures, making them easily absorbed through inhalation.

Magic Leaf Tea uses hemp that has gone through a proprietary method of slow decarboxylation. Besides releasing CBD for absorption, it also retains more of the terpines (the oils that give hemp it's unique smell and flavor) along with additional benefits they provide. It is a difference you can smell!

  • Caryophyllene. A spicy smell, providing medical value for ulcers, arthritis, and gastrointestinal problems
  • Limonene. This citrus-smelling terpene offers anti-fungal, anti-bacterial, and anti-inflammatory properties, and it can also help with depression and heartburn
  • Linalool. Medicinal value includes potential relief for depression and anxiety. This terpine has the sweet flowery smell.
  • Myrcene. Myrcene offers an earthy smell and may be good for relieving muscle tension, insomnia, and chronic pain.

Our process of decarbing the tea allows you to enjoy the benefits of CBD the way it was meant to be - naturally.
